Somali National Army (SNA) elite forces Danab on Tuesday killed an al-Shabab militant commander for Amniyat ( intelligence wing) in Wanlaweyn district in the Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia, officials said.
SNA’s 16th Danab Commander Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali told Somali National News Agency (SONNA) said that the operation was part of a counterterrorism exercise aimed at eradicating militants in the region.
“Our forces killed a senior al-Shabab commander who was in charge of Amniyat in a well-coordinated operation in Wanlaweyn district in Lower Shabelle region this morning,” Ali said, adding that the commander was named Hassan Suleyman Ali and the operation is going on well.
Al-Shabab militants did not comment on the latest operation by SNA’s Danab unit so far. Enditem
