A total of 25 South African companies, mostly in the mining sector, will showcase their manufactured products at the Africa Down Under international conference in Australia next week, according to the Trade and Industry Department.
Director of media relations at the department Bongani Lukhele told Xinhua that South African companies participating in these international events were aimed at exploring and boosting their exports to new markets.
“We want to assist them to get a new market for their products, some of these companies produce products or equipment used in the mining sector, technology and steel tubing,” he said.
Lukhele said intensive work was done before companies get selected and funded by the department to participate in international exhibitions.
“We want to grow their businesses so we don’t select them randomly, when the companies return to South Africa, they must give us feedback on the amount generated through export sales,” he said. “Before selecting companies, we make sure that their products is in demand in that country.”
The Chief Executive of the Steel Tube Association Keitumetse Moumakoe said he hoped the Association would receive new business in Australia. Enditem
