Sportsmen And Women Pray For Covid-19 To Disappear


Most sportsmen and women are not happy with the surge of the coronavirus that has taken over the world and claimed several lives.

The epidemic has forced all major and minor sports events and programmes to be postponed or cancelled.

The Premiership and all European football leagues, the US NBA basketball league, tennis opens, athletics meets, boxing championships, table tennis tournaments and many others have been put on hold to avoid the spread of the virus.

The world’s biggest sports event, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is certainly going to be affected as Japan is in the same geographic zone which the China, where the plague originated from.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Tokyo 2020 are in a dilemma on whether to postpone the Games or go ahead as there are signs that the problem could be solved.

Victorien Adebayor of Inter Allies, the Ghana Premier League most exciting player said he is very sad and prays that the world would be saved. He said life is precious and people must live in safety, however he is sure of winning the goal king title.

Elizabeth Alhassan, a media practitioner observed that life has become very dawdling and she prays that the Lord Almighty will forgive the world of their sins and make things normal.

She said, there is no league match to cover, no press conference to attend, no engagement of an icon as everyone is under self-quarantine.” This virus must vanish” she expressed

George Nipah, an amateur boxer and journalist also said everything is dull and also prayed for people to change their living habits and do the right things at the right time.

Eva Adom Amankwaa, a table tennis player expressed her consent on the ban imposed on all sporting activities in the country “it has affected me as a table tennis player”.

Nii Akramah Tagoe of Tagoe Kitchen at the Accra Sports Stadium said business is very slow as people are not patronizing public places. He appealed to the health authorities to give accurate and best information to the people to be safe guarded.
