Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed government officials to prioritize the safety of Sri Lankan citizens residing in Israel in light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said on Thursday.
The PMD said in a press release that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel and relevant government departments have collaboratively initiated a special program to assist the Sri Lankan community living in Israel.
Sri Lankans working or residing in Israel for various purposes now have access to channels for directly informing Sri Lankan authorities in case of life-threatening situations or related difficulties, the PMD said.
Sri Lankan media on Monday cited the country’s embassy in Israel as saying that one Sri Lankan national has been injured, while two remained missing after the conflict erupted.
