The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has given the assurance that it would always pursue client-friendly policies for the sustenance and growth of the Scheme.
“The welfare of our clients is our priority,” Mrs Laurette Korkor Otchere, the Deputy Director-General, Operations and Benefits, SSNIT, said, adding that contributions of their clients had been vital to the survival of the Scheme.
Mrs Otchere was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mampongteng in the Ashanti Region during a programme dubbed; ‘SSNIT Mobile Service’.
The three-day programme, on the theme; “The SSNIT Pension Pot; How Much You Put in Determines What You Get Out,” was designed to bring to the doorstep of clients the services offered by the Trust.
The programme saw SSNIT officials and staff moving from their various branches and attending to customers at selected locations.
It generally sought to offer Management of the Trust the opportunity to educate members, employers and the general public on their rights, responsibilities and benefits under the Scheme.
Activities at the designated mobile service locations include statement printing, biometric and employer registration, benefits processing initiation and status verification.
Others are portal ID creation, resolution of compliance issues/concerns, students’ loan repayment and general enquiries.
Mrs Otchere urged Ghanaians to embrace the Scheme to be guaranteed a better and secured future.
She called on employers who had defaulted in the payment of their employees’ contributions to strive to negotiate with the Management for a payment plan relating to their arrears.
“Prosecution is our last resort, because we believe in negotiations,” she noted.
Mr Kingsley Agyei-Manu, the General Manager, Operations, SSNIT, said the programme had received encouraging patronage from the public with hundreds of people visiting the various ‘Mobile Service’ locations to be assisted.
Areas receiving the ‘Mobile Service’ include Boamang, Konongo, Asante-Mampong, Suame, Mampongteng, and Obuasi.
