St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum Reopens

The 9th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum kicked off on Thursday in St. Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city, after a three-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the organizers, the topic of the forum is determined as instructed by the Russian president: History and Modernity in Artistic Culture. The program includes three units: Getting to Know History Via Culture, Artificial Intelligence – a Threat or a Benefit for Culture, Traditional Culture as a Foundation for Building a Civilized Society.

Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova said earlier that participants from China, Spain, Italy, Britain and a number of other countries had arrived at the forum. They would conclude agreements and memoranda on cooperation with Russian cultural institutions, as well as discuss plans for further cultural exchanges.

The forum, which will last until Saturday, is organized by the Russian government, the Russian Ministry of Culture, and the government of St. Petersburg. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the plenary session of the forum on Friday.
