Stakeholders discuss ways artistes can be successful

Stakeholders in the music industry have called for artistes to be dedicated to their craft, and employ the services of professionals to make them excel.

They advocated strongly for musicians to display the right attitude that would make them succeed, and focus on their objectives.

At the second edition of the National Music Summit, on the theme: “Route to Success in Ghana Music, “various stakeholders revealed ways through which an artiste can rise to the top.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion organized by Charterhouse, Mr. George Britton, Chief Executive of GB Records, said artistes should be more dedicated to their craft and set an objective of becoming great musicians.

According to Mr Britton, musicians needed to show the right attitude in their music and get in touch with professionals who could help them excel.

Mr. David Kojo Kotey, who is popularly known as Kaywa, explained that being successful had nothing to do with relevance or money but how to impact other people through your music.

Kaywa, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Highly Spiritual Music, said being passionate about your craft determines how far you would be successful and also surrounding yourself with the right people.

Other speakers, including Mr. Francis Doku, General Manager of 3 Media Group, and Mr. Kofi Beatmance, a record producer, all asserted the fact that keeping the focus on your craft and putting your brand in the positive limelight will go a long way to making an artiste successful.

The National Music Summit also witnessed plaques being presented to the award-winners of the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
