StarTimes, a leading African media company, has renewed its exclusive all-media broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga for the 2024/25 to 2026/27 seasons.
This extension of their successful partnership, which began in the 2015/16 season, reinforces StarTimes’ dedication to providing premier sports content across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The agreement ensures that Bundesliga matches will be broadcast in English, Portuguese, and local languages across various media platforms throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The Bundesliga, Germany’s top football league, is celebrated for its high-energy matches and competitive spirit, making it a favourite among global football fans.
Peer Naubert, Chief Marketing Officer of Bundesliga International, highlighted the league’s historic connection with African audiences.
“The Bundesliga has a rich history in Africa, beginning with the pioneering ‘Football Made in Germany’ program in the 1980s. This partnership has helped us become the fastest-growing European top league in Africa, and we are excited to continue this journey,” Naubert said.
Naubert emphasized the league’s commitment to delivering high-quality broadcasts and engaging with fans through various initiatives. “Our goal is to offer more than just exceptional broadcasts; we aim to create meaningful opportunities for fans to connect with the Bundesliga, aligning with our ‘Football As It’s Meant To Be’ ethos,” he added.
The Bundesliga has a notable history of developing African football talent. Legendary players like Jay-Jay Okocha and Sammy Kuffour have made significant contributions, and current stars such as Odilon Kossounou, Sebastian Haller, Serhou Guirassy, and Victor Boniface continue to shine in the league.
Lily Meng, General Manager of StarTimes Media, expressed her enthusiasm for the renewed partnership. “We are committed to enhancing the entertainment choices for African audiences and promoting world-class sports content. We look forward to continuing to bring the excitement of Bundesliga football to fans across the continent,” Meng said.
The renewed agreement signifies a continued commitment to expanding the reach of Bundesliga football and fostering a deeper connection with African fans.
