The number of national and state assemblies aspirants jostling for seat to represent the various constituencies in Anambra state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has continued to swell daily as more people collect their Expression of Interest (EOI) and Nomination forms.

Among the latest to collect the forms for Senatorial race include Chief Samuel Ikefuna(Anambra North); Senator Annie Okonkwo, Dr Obiorah Okonkwo, Chief(Mrs)Christy Okoye and Hon(Mrs) Uche Ekwunife (for Anambra Central senatorial seat).

Also an incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Chief Charles Chinwendu Odedo, and As well as Chief Emmanuel Nweke have both picked their own forms for the Idemili and Awka Federal constituencies respectively. Among them was Hon(Engr) Machiavelli Chidi Okafor(for Njikoka State Constituency).

According to Chief Ikefuna and Dr Obiorah Okonkwo in their separate interviews, “it’s time to change the status quo, our people need quality and active/effective representation”.

They acknowledged efforts of their predecessors and incumbents, but that they would do better. They said the motivation was about hunger for service to the people, to use the higher office to improve the lot of the people.

That there is need to synergies with state governments for empowerment in different areas like on Education/scholarship, artisans, widows, and job creation.

They revealed plans to build a data on them with a view to help out.
