Hon. Isaac Asiamah Ghana’s Sports Minister has promised to support all sporting disciplines including boxing and he is happy that Ghana is celebrating the 60t Independence Anniversary with an international boxing bonanza at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting sports when the directors and management of Street Wise Promotions and Errol Hawk paid a courtesy call at the Ministry of Youth & Sports.

The Minister commended the promoters and urged the private sector to contribute to the game and other disciplines.

He was optimistic that all the three boxers fighting for the World Boxing Council Silver Titles will win and other good boxers on the bill will live up to expectation.

Michael Amoo Bediako, the London based head of Street Wise Promotions said it had been tough getting this fight in Ghana as he started the whole process at the WBC convention in Miami where he met and shared ideas about Ghana boxing with the WB C President, Mauricio Suleiman his vice Maurio Betti and Houcini Houchi, representing the African continent.

The international boxing leaders promised to make Ghana a destination of boxing in Africa and support the development of Ghananian talents.

USA based Jacob Zwennes, CEO and director of Errol Hawk Management who has a lot of experienced boxers from different nations expressed his satisfaction with the promotion, especially the contribution of government with the involvement of [email protected] and the media as well as the newly formed Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GHBSU).

The manager of Fred Lawson who also lives in the USA said his boxer has been able to recover from an injury that nearly ended his career and by the grace of God they are looking forward to annex the WBC Silver Belt and move into the top ranks.

Among the dignitaries was Peter Zwennes, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) who said Ghana Boxing is on the resurgence and soon new crack boxers are coming to take the sport to a higher level.

He was happy with the construction of the Bukom Arena, but prayed that more promotions will come up to make the facility useful.

Trainer carl Lokko promised to give fans first class world boxing techniques that would make them clap and cheer.

Frederick Lawson (24 -1- 0) will take on Jamaica’s Sakima Mullings for the WBC.

Richard Oblitey Commey (24-2, 22 KOs) also returns to the ring in Ghana when he faces Belgium based Tunisian, Hedi Slimani (26-2, 14 KOs) in a WBC international lightweight championship.

Duke Micah (19-0), the undefeated Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion meets Jonathan Aguilar from Mexico. It would be not be easy fights as all the opponents are worthy and highly ranked.
