On his first day in office, the newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Suaman Dadieso, Hon. Vasco Obour, led a community effort to clear the overgrown Dadieso to Enchi highway. He mobilized local youth, members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), tricycle (pragya) riders, and assembly workers for the exercise.
The road, which was constructed in 2016, had not been maintained since then, leading to a thick growth of weeds covering a large portion of it. This made the road extremely dangerous for both drivers and riders, contributing to several accidents.
According to Mr. Obour, he wrote to the Highway Authority and received approval to undertake the clearing exercise. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the road and called on all stakeholders to assist, especially with access to equipment like brush-cutting machines, to prevent further accidents.
The District Engineer, Mr. Charles Tetteh Yuohonu, expressed his delight about the initiative and praised the DCE’s proactive approach.
The youth, GPRTU drivers, and pragya riders also expressed their gratitude to the DCE for taking swift action to address the dangerous condition of the road.
