The Sunyani South District of the Mid-West Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church over the weekend launched its annual Global Youth Week Celebration in Sunyani.
Under the theme: “ADOPT”, the celebration aims at bringing the youth in the District together to equip them with the knowledge and skills about effective evangelisation to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The respective youth groups in the District commenced the celebration with a float and held placards with various inscriptions such as “Jesus still loves you”, “Set godly goals, you can achieve them”.
They processed through the principal streets of Sunyani beginning at the Sunyani New Town branch of the Church and distributed Christian literature to the people on the street.
Other activities to be held within the period are fasting and prayers, as well as candle night before it would be climaxed on Saturday, March 23 with a donation of food items and other essential commodities to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital.
Pastor Kwame Awisi Sakyi Gyan, the District Youth leader, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the youth needed to be reminded occasionally about the core Christian mandate of propagating the word of God to all nations.
He urged Christians to have passion for evangelism and always rely on God in all endeavours of life because: “He is a solid rock who never fails and can be trusted forever”.
