The Sunyani Technical University (STU) finds itself embroiled in a controversy following the publication of an explosive exposé titled ‘Exposed: Sex-Hungry Lecturers’ in the media.

Allegations of a sex-for-grade scandal, brought to light by Mr. Owusu Agyekum, a former Student Representative Council (SRC) President of the institution, have prompted swift action from the university’s administration.

In response to the grave accusations, Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, the Vice-Chancellor, took immediate steps to address the situation. In a press release Professor Adinkrah-Appiah underscored the gravity of the matter and affirmed the university’s commitment to handling it with the utmost seriousness.

“The Management of Sunyani Technical University is fully aware of the recent media reports concerning alleged sexual misconduct involving certain faculty members,” the statement read. “We want to reassure all stakeholders that these allegations are being taken very seriously, and the university has taken decisive action by establishing a dedicated committee to conduct a thorough investigation.”

The university’s management reiterated its unwavering stance against all forms of sexual harassment and misconduct, emphasizing its stringent zero-tolerance policy. It was made unequivocally clear that any breach of the institution’s policies in this regard would be met with swift and appropriate disciplinary measures.

The Vice-Chancellor affirmed that the welfare and safety of the students and staff are of paramount importance and will not hesitate to enforce the full extent of the University’s disciplinary code and sexual harassment policy to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all.

Furthermore, the press release sought to reassure concerned stakeholders that transparency and accountability would guide the investigative process. The committee tasked with probing the allegations was pledged to operate independently and impartially, with the sole aim of uncovering the truth.

“While we understand the gravity of these allegations, we urge all parties to exercise patience and allow the investigative committee to carry out its mandate effectively,” Professor Adinkrah-Appiah urged. “Rest assured, the findings of the committee will be made public, and appropriate actions will be taken based on its recommendations.”

In conclusion, the university implored all stakeholders to remain calm and trust in the integrity of the investigative process. By upholding the principles of fairness and accountability, Sunyani Technical University reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and conducive academic environment for all its members.
