Residents of Nyantramor in Kpone Bawaleshie, Kpone Katamanso Municipality, are living in fear due to a recent surge in armed robberies and vandalism.
Over the past few months, the community has faced increasing security threats, exacerbated by the lack of a police post and deteriorating road conditions.
On Sunday afternoon, a visit to the town revealed the gravity of the situation.
Several residents recounted harrowing experiences with criminals. One woman reported that her husband was attacked and killed by masked assailants a year ago, and no arrests have been made, leaving the community in a state of distress. Other residents shared similar stories of armed robberies and property damage.
The poor state of the local roads compounds the security concerns. Due to the road conditions, many vehicles are immobilized, forcing residents to walk long distances.
The situation has also impacted local businesses, particularly motorbike riders, who are struggling due to the lack of reliable transport.
At a press briefing, the leadership of the local landlords’ association called on the police administration to establish a police post in Nyantramor to address the escalating crime.
The MP for Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Joseph Tetteh, acknowledged the residents’ plight and assured them that efforts are underway to find a solution.
Residents are urging prompt action to restore safety and improve the infrastructure in their community, emphasizing the need for security enhancements and road repairs to alleviate their ongoing struggles.
