An Angolan citizen who pretended to be an employee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR) has been arrested in eastern Angola’s Lunda Norte Province by the local Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) for deceiving people over false job vacancy, SIC said on Tuesday.

The SIC explained that the arrest took place after suspect knowing about a vacancy in the UNHCR office for a technical assistance, tried to swindle a considerable number of citizens by allegedly collecting 30,000 (about 62 U.S. dollars) to 50,000 kwanzas for them to be selected for the said job vacancy.

The suspect told people that there were 30 vacancies, having defrauded 50 young people until the time of his arrest.

The UNHCR has already clarified that the institution only has one vacancy and that the registration to apply for the post is free of charge. Enditem
