Two policemen were shot dead by armed men believed to be robbers in the Ghanaian community of Buduburam, about 38 kilometers west of the capital on Wednesday, police have confirmed.

The spokesperson for the Kasoa District Command of the Ghana police service Irene Oppong confirmed the incident to Xinhua via telephone.

Initial reports said that the armed men drove through a police check-point in an unregistered salon car, and defied the police order to stop.

A reported exchange of gunfire ensued between the occupants of the salon car and the police, leading to the death of the two policemen. Enditem
