Suspended Adamawa Lawmakers to face arrest

The Adamawa House of Assembly, on Tuesday, passed a resolution directing five suspended members, who were allegedly paid severance allowance to refund the money or face arrest.

The House plenary presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, said the suspended law-makers were not entitled to severance allowance.

It also said that the diversion of money from the State Pension Fund meant for pensioners by the executive to pay the law-makers was not only unfortunate but also illegal.

Meanwhile, the state Accountant-General, Mrs. Augustina Wandamita, who was due to appear before the House on the alleged diversion of the pension fund to pay severance allowance, did not show up.
