An exhibition of exquisite Suzhou-style handicraft works is being held at the art gallery of the beautiful city in east China’s Jiangsu Province. More than 100 pieces produced by over 40 folk artisans are on display, containing embroidery, stone carving, jade carving, bamboo carving, tree-root carving, ancient musical instruments, fans, ornate Boccaro teapot, silk weaving, and imitation Song Dynasty (960-1279) brocade. Some of the artisans have been invited to show their superb skills on the spot so that visitors can see and get a close-up feel of the local techniques, arts and culture of Suzhou. Sponsored by the Suzhou Municipal Center of Public Culture, the exhibition closes on Nov. 27.
