The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has called for a parliamentary inquiry following the mysterious disappearance of an 11-member Ghanaian para-athlete team in Norway.
Initially scheduled to participate in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon, the team vanished upon arrival in Oslo in July, sparking national concern and allegations of visa fraud.
SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah condemned the incident as a “blatant fraud,” tarnishing Ghana’s sports reputation and undermining legitimate athletic endeavours. He criticized successive governments for failing to address systemic corruption in sports, citing previous scandals as evidence of ongoing impunity.
The association urged swift action to hold accountable those responsible for the disappearance, emphasizing the need for justice to safeguard Ghanaian sports’ integrity and athletes’ futures.
