The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development would review its community development policy to align with the government’s ‘one district one factory’ project, Hajia Alima Mahama, the sector Minister said.


The Minister explained that the review of the policy would also involve reforming the country’s rural development strategies to promote better livelihood of the citizenry and enhance development.

Hajia Mahama said this when a two-member delegation from the Embassy of Switzerland paid a courtesy call on her in Accra to explore possible measures of deepening the relationship between Ghana and Switzerland.

The delegation included Mr Roland Fischer, the Deputy to the Ambassador, and Mr Matthias Feldmann, the Head of Cooperation Counsellor.

Hajia Mahama said the Ministry had undertaken developmental projects to improve the wellbeing of Ghanaians especially in the rural communities.

She lauded the government of Switzerland for its contribution towards Ghana’s development adding that the government intended to deepen engagement between the two countries in the coming years.

Mr Feldmann his government’s commitment to support the Ghana’s rural and urban transportation system and infrastructure development.

He noted that the government of Switzerland was ready to renew its district development initiative with the country by supporting the establishment of more infrastructures.

Mr Feldmann said Ghana and Switzerland had enjoyed good relationship over the years and expressed readiness of the embassy to undertake more partnership projects with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

He thanked the government of Ghana for their unflinching support given to the embassy over the past years.
