Lovers of Boxing have been promised nothing but fireworks on Thursday when one of the country?s finest boxers, Emmanuel ?Game Boy? Tagoe, takes on Sidiki Momba at the Accra Stadium.
Promoters of the bout ? Baby Jet Promotions ? have dubbed the clash, ?Who rules the ring??, but keen followers, predominantly from Bukom, James Town and its environs, have also termed it ?December to Remember Classic Boxing Bonanza?.
That, together with the two fighters? promise to give their best shot at yesterday?s press conference, has raised the stakes in the WBA International Lightweight Championship Boxing Day bonanza.
Tagoe?s Tanzanian opponent, Momba, who spoke through an interpreter, promised a four-round Technical Knock Out (TKO), saying, backed with gestures, that ?I will slaughter you in Round Four. I am not intimidated by the crowd at all.
?I will silence your boxer. I have beaten tough fighters from Russia, the Philippines and other boxing nations.?
As usual, Game Boy electrified the jam-packed press conference with his oratory and promised a new fighting formula he termed ?Kun Wun Chan?.
Sitting close to his promoter Asamoah Gyan on the high table, Tagoe stated that he would introduce the Black Stars captain as his new coach in the ring on the big night.
He urged boxing lovers to throng the Stadium to see for themselves what he intended to unleash on his ?braggart opponent?.
?I want everybody to come and see for themselves what myself and my new coach Asamoah Gyan will do on Thursday. Don?t wait to be told by someone else, they may not give you a vivid description of what I will do.
?Your Christmas will not be complete without coming to the Stadium on Thursday,? said Tagoe.
President of Baby Jet Promotions, Asamoah Gyan, threw an invitation to all to come to the Stadium.
?I am inviting all to come to the stadium on Boxing Day. Myself, other Black Stars players and celebrities will be there as well.
?You know what my boy is capable of doing. He is creative and stylish. He will deliver and that will be a perfect Christmas gift for Ghanaians.
?I am a footballer but I want to support boxing. Baby Jet Promotions has come to stay,? said Gyan.
Also featuring on the same bill is Raymond Commey, who is facing Nick Otieno (Tanzania) in their WBA Pan African Super Bantamweight championship, while Abraham Osei Bonsu takes on Michael Pappoe in their national super bantamweight championship.
Michael Ansah will face Ishmael Ayitey in their National Lightweight eliminator with Prosper Ankrah facing TBA.
Felix Williams will battle John Oblitey Commey, while Ayi Bruce clashes with Kofi Manu.
Cool rates of GH?10, GH?50 and GH?100 would be charged for regular VIP and VVIP stands.
The bout is supported by Mama Vits Investments, Unibank and the Asamoah Gyan Foundation.
