The High Commissioner of Tanzania in Mozambique Rajab Luhwavi said Friday that his government is investigating the involvement of Tanzanian citizens in the attacks in northern province of Cabo Delgado.
Luhwavi spoke to the press after a farewell meeting in the presidential palace with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi in Maputo.
“We are working with Mozambican government to better investigate who the attackers are working with and how they arrived in Tanzania, and whether they are in fact Tanzanian citizens,” said Luhwavi.
The High Commissioner said that Tanzania is concerned about fighting terrorism in Mozambique, an evil that also affects his country, adding that a joint assessment will be made to take action against these criminal acts.
“It is necessary to unite the defense and security forces of both countries to combat terrorism at the borders,” he said, adding that there is already cooperation between the border police, and migration services. Enditem
