Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said those behind the demise of the once giant state-run industries will be squarely dealt by the government.

He cited the defunct state-run industries as Sungura, Kilitex, Mutex and the Southern Paper Mills, saying their collapse was masterminded by irresponsible and corrupt officials.

“The country made fortunes from those factories but thanks to their dishonesty and corrupt minded schemes, such industries no longer exist. We will not allow that to happen in this era and those responsible will suffer the consequences,” the PM said in the northern Tanzanian city of Arusha when speaking at the sixth National Social Security Fund (NSSF) stakeholders’ meeting.

His remarks came at the time when the east African nation had conceived the industrialization plan as the main catalyst to transform the economy, generate sustainable growth and reduce poverty. Enditem
