Tanzanian Media praised for reports on UN activities

Speaking in Zanzibar recently, Mr Rodriguez said journalists are good and trusted advocates on what the UN is doing in the country as well as major voices for the challenges and aspirations of Tanzanians.

The UN Country Team was in Zanzibar to carry out consultations on the work done over the last year, to plan on how best to implement their work in the next year, while delivering services as One UN towards poverty eradication and promote the development of the country.

The meeting was also meant to plan for the next United Nations Development assistance Plan (UNDAP) which will start July 2016, known as UNDAP 11.

With an outstanding performance in UNDAP 1, Mr Rodriguez requested Journalists to share information with the people by going even deeper into what have been reported by the United Nations information system, by visiting the field areas with them, interview the people who have benefitted and communicate the work to the general public.

He called for media fraternity in Zanzibar to publicise the UNDAP I, which supported MKUKUTA & MKUZA by focusing on governance, economic reforms and social issues.

?Today we visited Kivunge Hospital and you saw some UN activities. This is one of many good examples on how UN Agencies are working together with the government and development partners in Zanzibar and Mainland to meet the citizens? needs,? he said.

He applauded journalists for their work well done in reporting the actual achievement of the different UN projects in the country. ?The UNDAP is coming to an end in June 2016 and currently there is an ongoing evaluation on the impact of our joint work with the country.
