Tanzanian police gunned down three suspected armed bandits at dawn on Sunday in the northwestern region of Mwanza, located on the shores Lake Victoria.

Mwanza regional police commander Muliro Jumanne said the suspected bandits were killed as they attempted to steal spare parts for vehicles and building materials in a warehouse owned by Avant Industries Limited.

“The suspects were spotted by police who were on patrol at Igogo and Nyamagana areas. They were killed as they tried to exchange fire with the police,” Jumanne told a news conference.

Jumanne said the suspects had a shotgun with four rounds of ammunition, three machetes, an iron bar, a big scissors used to dismantle locks, keys and locks.

On Nov. 29 last year, police killed six suspected bandits who were attempting to rob a businessman in the commercial capital, Dar es Salaam. Enditem
