Tanzanian police and the country’s standards regulator on Saturday announced their partnership aimed at inspecting vehicles by using modern digital facilities to control road accidents, the state-owned newspaper Daily News reported on Monday.

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tanzania Police Force on Saturday aimed at enforcing the partnership, said the newspaper.

TBS Director General Athuman Ngenya said in Tanzania’s commercial hub of Dar es Salaam that the TBS will deploy its experts and modern vehicle inspection equipment country-wide for inspection of the vehicles to ensure the safety of the automobiles and the users.

Awadhi Haji, director of Operations and Training with the Tanzania Police Force, said the partnership marked a new beginning from conducting inspection manually to using digital facilities.
