Tanzanian Deputy Prime Minister Doto Biteko has directed water authorities in the country’s Zanzibar to ensure that all people on the islands have access to safe and clean water.
He made these directives while inaugurating the Zanzibar Water Authority (ZAWA) headquarters on Sunday in the Unguja Urban district.”
Biteko, who also serves as energy minister, urged the local people to protect water sources and the environment in general.
He said the government, with support from development partners, has been investing significant amounts of money in water projects to ensure the supply of clean and safe water to all people.
ZAWA Director General Salha Mohamed Kassim said the ZAWA was diligently working to enhance the water supply to the people in Zanzibar.
