Tanzania’s Inspector General of Police Simon Sirro on Saturday vowed to fight what he described as a new wave of gang crimes.
In a statement, Sirro urged criminal gangs in the country to urgently stop committing crimes before they face the full force of the law.
The police chief pledged to fight the criminal gangs one day after President Samia Suluhu Hassan raised alarm over criminal acts in the east African nation.
Addressing a meeting in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam on Friday, President Hassan ordered the police chief to deal with the criminals before they cause more harm to innocent citizens.
In the statement, Sirro also appealed to inmates who benefited from a recent presidential amnesty to stop engaging in criminal acts after they walked out of prisons. Enditem
