wpid-taxi.jpgA cab driver, Kojo 27 was physically attacked and assaulted by a police officer at Amanteng in the Brong Ahafo region for ‘saying no to 1Gh’. The officer fiercely threw punches at the face of the helpless driver.

Narrating the incident, the driver who out of pain could not hold back his tears said, “he had pick a sick person from Atebubu to Ejura, upon reaching the Amanteng barrier, the officer stopped him and quickly asked to check his driving license which he gave out.

Few minutes later after their regular pointless and needless barrier formalities, the officer came back demanding for 1Gh”

The driver continued, ” I told him to let me go and come because I have picked a sick person so I had no money with me. He insisted I pay the money or he would refused me my license.
I begged him to returned the document to me because I may proceed the sick person to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi and still he was adamant, so after some few exchanges of words, he held my neck and slapped me on the face”

The Police officer whose name was given as ‘Blackie’ has been noted for harassing and intimidating drivers on the road purposely for declining to pay bribes. The area police commander is yet to respond to these allegations.

However, the drivers who individually narrated their ordeals through the same officer warned that something must be done or they advised themselves.
