African tourism will grow in 2019 with innovation and technology taking a center stage, said Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) on Wednesday.
Darryl Erasmus, Chief Quality Assurance Officer in TGCSA, told Xinhua that innovation and digital technology will play a major role in the sector this year.
“Technical development will change the way the industry works to improve the client experience. This year will see lots of apps and innovations in the sector,” he said.
Erasmus stated that new hotels being built have new technology while some old ones have the latest applications being added. Some hotels have applications to order room service, wake up calls and call laundry instead of using a phone.
He said, “Hotel rooms have to have the right kind of technology to allow the guest to consume the media they like. Instead of the traditional television and channels some rooms now have Netflix and YouTube.” Enditem
