An 18-year-old Salesman, Foster Ansah, was on Wednesday put before an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 15-year-old girl at Nungua, a suburb of Accra.
Ansah, who was said to have committed the act in May 2018, in his parents’ room at Nungua, pleaded not guilty before the court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley Quaison.
He was however remanded into police custody to reappear on January 15.
Police Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, prosecuting, told the court that, the complainant is the biological father of the victim, while the accused person is a Sales man.
The Prosecution said both the victim and the accused lived with their parents at Nungua, and that before the incident, they were living in the same house as co-tenants.
He said one afternoon in May 2018, Ansah lured the victim to his parents’ room where he had sexual intercourse with her, and later warned her not to disclose it to anyone.
Prosecution said based on that the victim kept the incident to herself until she became pregnant without knowing.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said her parents detected the pregnancy around August 2018 and questioned her upon which she disclosed that Ansah had sex with her some time ago.
Police Chief Inspector Atimbire said her father took the victim to the Nungua Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service and lodged a formal complainant.
He said a medical report form was issued to the complainant for the victim to be sent to the hospital, where she was examined and it was detected that she was pregnant.
