Tema Port Officials Urge Importers To Clear Goods On Time

Importers have been cautioned against the delay in clearing of goods at the port.According to Mr Richard Anamoo, Director-General, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA),the Tema port is almost the gateway to West Africa and as such very busy nowadays.

Importers from Niger,Mali and Burkina Faso also clear their goods at the port, making it very busy on any normal day.Congestion at the port is becoming intense with the delayer of importers to clear their goods within the stipulated two weeks. As such, there are mostly no spaces for other vessels to discharge their goods at the port.He therefore called on all importers in West Africa to make it a point to clear their goods on time.

Also,he notified that CCTV cameras have been installed at vantage points in the port to ensure that those who tamper with other goods are caught on camera. As such, goods of importers are safe at the port and corruption has been minimised at the port.

The road from the habor to the Tema motorway will also be completed soon, with assurance from the constructors.
