Undertaken among four groups from Community Three to Sakumono, Lashibi, Klagon and areas along the Tema Motorway, the exercise was a collaborative effort by the TWMA, the Municipal Environmental Health Department and Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

Mrs Adwoa Amoako, Municipal Chief Executive, said the exercise was to properly utilize the two-week lockdown imposed by government to clean the Municipality.

She said proper sanitary practices helped to reduce the spread of infections and contagious viruses as poor sanitation was linked to the transmission of diseases consequently, causing deaths.

The MCE indicated that the Assembly’s sanitation interventions were geared towards making the Municipality clean in line with Sustainable Development Goal target 6.2 which called for adequate and equitable sanitation for all.

The Coronovirus pandemic, she intimated, required that individuals strictly adhered to all precautionary measures including; the practicing personal hygiene, ensuring social distancing and staying at home among others, to stop the spread of Covid-19.

She said the Assembly had constituted a task force to ensure that all directives by the president ito contain the Covid-19 were strictly adhered to.
