The accident occurred when two vehicles, a fully-loaded Mazda commercial bus and Iveco truck had a head-on collision on Wednesday.
Divis Ogiamiem, Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the crash to wrong overtaking by the driver of the commercial bus.
Ogiamiem said the bus travelling from Ibadan to Lagos overtook wrongly at a section of the road where there was traffic diversion, and rammed into the oncoming truck.
The road official added that the corpses of the dead victims had been deposited in the mortuary of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu while the six injured passengers were also being treated in the same hospital.
Nigeria records high fatality rates for road accidents mainly due to shoddy highways, poorly maintained vehicles and violation of traffic rules by inept drivers. Enditem
