FC Barcelona announced on Monday that Marc Andre Ter Stegen has signed a contract extension with the club that will keep him at the Camp Nou Stadium until the end of June 2022.
The German international, who made 36 Liga Santander and nine Champions League appearances for the club this season, will have a buyout clause of 180 million euros, making it virtually impossible for any club to buy him without previously negotiating with Barca.
After being substitute to Claudio Bravo in LaLiga after joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2014, the 25-year-old gained protagonism in his second campaign at the club and following Bravo’s move to Manchester City last summer he became firmly established as first choice for coach Luis Enrique only missing out on two league matches due to injury.
Meanwhile Barca have still to announce who will succeed Luis Enrique as first team coach, with former Athletic Club Bilbao boss, Ernesto Valverde expected to be confirmed in the coming hours. Enditem
