Two security guards of AFWEST Security Company Limited have been remanded into prison custody by an Accra Circuit Court for robbery.
The duo and one Issac Mensah, also a security guard but who is currently at large, were said to have conspired and robbed one Gladys Agyemang of her Sony Ericson mobile phone valued at GH?150, one Nokia phone valued at GH?100, a wig valued at GH?40 and a cash sum of GH?37, all totalling? GH?327.
Appearing before trial judge Francis Obiri, Addo and Matiefom denied any wrongdoing and were remanded to reappear on December 18, 2014.
Briefing the court, Inspector Kwabena Adu said the complainant is unemployed and lives at Abossey Okai whilst the accused persons are security guards at AFWEST Security Company Limited in Accra.
He said on December 1, 2014, Mensah and Matiefom were detailed for fixed guards? duty at the Airport branch of Access Bank whilst Addo was also on duty at the Liberty American School at East Legon.
Inspector Adu said at about 9pm on the aforementioned date, Mensah left his duty post for Kwame Nkrumah Circle where he met Gladys and proposed to have a relationship with her. He added that after a lengthy conversation between them the complainant agreed to see Mensah?s house.
The police officer said Mensah took the complainant to his duty post and hosted her in the reception of the bank, noting that before they reached Mensah?s duty post, he called Addo and told him that he (Mensah) had a prostitute and was taking her to his duty post so Addo should come so that they would have sex with her.
Inspector Adu indicated that Addo rode his bicycle to the duty post of Mensah and Matiefom and went into the reception and demanded to have sex with the complainant but the lady refused. Mensah reportedly pulled out a knife from his pocked and threatened to stab Gladys if she refused them sex.
According to prosecution, out of fear of being wounded by Mensah, Gladys gave in and the accused persons took turns to have sex with her.
Inspector Adu said after the act Mensah threatened Gladys with his knife to surrender everything in her possession, adding that the suspects took the afore mentioned items and cash from her.
He stated that after they had satisfied themselves, they allowed the complainant to go but Mensah, upon seeing a police patrol vehicle approaching, managed to escape and his two accomplices were arrested and taken to the Accra Regional CID office.
