The Ashanti regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, has charged the newly appointed KMA boss to respect and maintain a close relationship with all stakeholders to make his work a success.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of the newly appointed KMA boss, the Minister also added that, he [the KMA boss] should endeavor to arrest all challenges confronting the metropolis and to improve the lives of the people.
According to him, Hon. Assibey was mainly chosen and accepted based on trust and confidence the president has in him and also his capabilities as a new Metropolitan Chief Executive, who can help steer the affairs of the Metropolis.
He therefore drew his attention on the implementation of the local Governance act 936 of 2016 and LI 1961, which is currently in force and imposes greater responsibilities on MMDCEs, to supervise staff of decentralized departments which are now the departments of the Assembly, and are directly under the supervision of the MCE.
“I urge you to seek the council and support of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to enable you to reach out to all segments of the societies in Kumasi and also maintain close relationship with the Manhyia Palace.
Endeavor to maintain the modest, honrst and humble lifestyle you are noted of, and make yourself approachable, affable and friendly to all.” Hon. Osei mensah urged the new KMA Boss.
Addressing the gathering as the newly confirmed KMA Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, gratefully thanked God, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Regional Minister and the whole RCC, the presiding member and his Assembly members and Kumasi at large, for the great honor bestowed on him.
He promised the president through the regional minister that, he is going to do everything humanly possible to form a strong united and a formidable team, to uplift image of Kumasi as the regional capital, as erstwhile was known as the Garden city.
“I can’t do this without the support of the presiding member and the Assembly members, all i ask is for you to support me as a united force, and i know with God on our side, we can do it. I am going to sit down and go through documents to see all our pressing problems, and with my Assembly and elders, we will tackle them one after the other till we achieve our goal.” Hon. Osei Assibey assured.
The Presiding member of the KMA, Hon. Abraham Boadi, also reiterated his commitment and that of the Assembly members, to support the Mayor, in order to improve the lives of the people in the Kumasi Metropolis.
