Nzemas, particularly those in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, are embarking on series of activities to mark the birthday of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
Former President John Mills instituted the Founder?s Day in 2010 to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana.
The day is always marked with public lectures, symposiums and other programmes in the country?s capital to highlight Nkrumah?s achievements and vision.
However, the people of the area and beyond have lined up series of activities to celebrate Dr Nkrumah?s 105th birthday owing to the fact that he was a native of Nkroful in the Ellembelle District.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in an interview, Kwame Mienzah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Nzema Event Management, disclosed that the Osagyefo Cup tournament, one of the activities to mark the day ended last Sunday.
He noted that the tournament, which saw nine Senior High Scools in the Nzema area competing, was on the theme: ?Drug Abuse Destroys -Kick it out.?
He mentioned the schools as Half-Assini Senior High School (HASCO), Esiama Senior High Technical School (Esiama Sectech), Fiaseman Senior High School (FIASEC) in Tarkwa,?Huni Valley Senior High School (HUNIVASS), Annor Agyaye Senior High School (ANASS) and Bonzo Kaku Senior High School (BOKASS)
The rest were Nsein Senior High School (NSEINSCO), Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School (NASS) and Uthman Bin Affan Senior High School (UBASH).
He said the choral festival and debate among the second cycle schools in the Nzema area would be held on September 28 and October 2, 2014 respectively.
Mienzah told DAILY GUIDE that the activities would be climaxed with the ?Osagyefo Bash? on October 27, 2014 at the Nkrumah Museum at Nkroful, with Bisa Kedei being the main artiste.
