Nigeria’s U-17 male football team, Golden Eaglets who are currently training in Sokoto for the forthcoming 11th African U-17 Championship will depart for Niamey today on road, even as Nigerians in Niger Republic are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the team.
This much was disclosed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who said it is doing everything possible to ensure a very successful outing for the cadet team. This was contained in a statement signed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Head of Media, Ademola Olajire, on Tuesday.
“The Eaglets will stay at the Hotel Royale Palace, to play its first two matches (against host Niger Republic and Guinea) at the Stade General Seyni Kountche, while the last match (against Zambia) will be played at the Stade Municipal, which has artificial turf,” Olajire added.
He further revealed that the NFF had made all necessary arrangements aimed at ensuring the success of the team in Niger.
As part of the strategy, the NFF Director of Communications, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said he met with the Local Organizing Committee members and top officials of the Embassy of Nigeria in Niamey.
