The Western Regional Police Command has confirmed that Mawusi, the one-year-old boy, who was cunningly taken from his mother by a supposed “countryman” has been found.
DSP Olivia Adiku, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the news to the Ghana News Agency that the boy was found at Effia-kuma, a community in the Effia Kwesmintsim Municipality with his hair shaved.
She said Madam Akosua Buah, whiles around the market circle post office in Takoradi, gave her son to the stranger who approached her and engaged her in a conversation.
DSP Adiku said that during the conversation, the mother mentioned the names of her two children name as Mawuli and Mawusi after which the alleged abductor also said she was an Ewe and therefore a “countryman”.
She said this easily won the trust of the woman to give the children to the alleged abductor who later took them away to buy things for them.
Hours passed, DSP Adiku, said and the woman returned with one of the children to the mother under pretext that the other was eating but the latter was crying so she decided to bring her and go and take care of the other child- but never came back.
She said though traders around saw the woman in conversation with Madam Buah, they ignorantly believed that the alleged abductor was a relative or a friend.
Meanwhile, Police intelligence has helped to trace the whereabouts of the boy and would later provide detailed information regarding the case.
