The utilization of drones is in violation of ?fundamental laws of the United States as well as international law?, says Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan-African News Wire.

On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that it was seeking proposals from states, universities, and other organizations for six sites where domestic drones could be tested.

?The utilization of drones within the domestic confines of the United States is a very dangerous, expanding development,? said Azikiwe in a phone interview with the U.S. Desk on Sunday.

Last year, the U.S. Congress passed legislation which ordered the Federal Aviation Administration to begin the process of opening U.S. airspace to more drone flights.

?In many of the drone attacks that have taken place internationally, most of the people who have been injured and killed are people who are not targeted by the Central Intelligence Agency and the Pentagon. A similar situation could very well happen here in the United States,? said Azikiwe.

?They kill people even prior to any type of due process, indictments, investigations, or hearing before a court of law among a jury of citizens of a particular country,? he added.

Last week, the Associated Press reported that a new Distinguished Warfare Medal would be awarded to service members who launch drone strikes that can kill people.
