Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has underscored the importance of fierce competition in the midfield as a critical factor in the team’s quest for Premier League success this season.

Partey, who has returned to full fitness after a season marred by injuries, is set to compete with Declan Rice, Jorginho, and Martin Ødegaard for a starting role.

“We have a lot of players in that position,” Partey remarked. “Jorginho is playing well, I am playing well. Declan (Rice) and Martin (Ødegaard) are there. We also have other players who can come in and make a difference. We have to compete against each other, and at the end of the day, it’s the Mister (Arteta) who decides. With this kind of competition, we can get to the level we want.”

Partey reflected on his previous injury struggles, stressing his commitment to overcoming these challenges and significantly contributing to the team’s success. “Maintaining fitness and consistency is my main focus for the upcoming season,” he said.

Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States has also included 12 academy players, a notable increase from last year. Partey emphasized the importance of guiding and mentoring these young talents as they adapt to the demands of first-team football.

“The young players are an important part of our future,” Partey noted. “It’s vital to help them integrate and grow within the team. They have much to offer, and we must support them as they develop.”

The Black Stars deputy captain has been with Arsenal since 2020, with his current contract set to run until 2025. As Arsenal gears up for the new season, Partey’s experience and the competitive environment in midfield could prove instrumental in their pursuit of Premier League glory.
