Three children shot dead in Nigeria attack

Nigerian police on Tuesday confirmed three children were shot dead following an attack by gunmen who invaded a village in the country’s northwestern state of Kaduna.

The attackers stormed the Unguwan Rimi village in Chawai district of Kauru local government area of the state on Monday, shooting at the children aged 8, 9, and 17 respectively, police said.

The attack is being investigated, state police spokesman Yakubu Sabo said.

The cause of the killing is unknown, as no armed group in the country has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kaduna, as well as neighboring Zamfara state, has witnessed a series of attacks by armed groups in recent months.

There have also been recurring incidents of livestock rustling and armed banditry in the region. Enditem
