Heavy rainfall, lasting for more than eight hours, left parts of Kasoa in the Central Region flooded, with water surging inside homes.
Streets were turned into fast flowing rivers and the worst hit areas were Kasoa Zongo, Pentecost and Iron City.
Ms. Janet Tettey, whose house was inundated with floodwater, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it had been a nightmare for her family.
They kept wake throughout the night, trying to salvage their things as the water kept pouring in.
“Anytime it rains, especially in the night, we do not sleep – the entire area gets flooded.”
Ms. Tettey appealed to the authorities to move quickly to improve the drainage system to save them from perennial floods.
A section of the Kasoa-Accra road near Matsigeni, which is after the tollbooth got submerged, creating vehicular traffic.
School children, market women and workers on Friday morning became stranded as many commercial drivers refused to use the road.
The rain started at about 2350 hours on Thursday.
