Authorities of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have interdicted three metro guards for misconduct and assault of a police officer.
The three suspended guards are: Michael Asare Yeboah, Stephen A.D. Shittor and George.
They allegedly abandoned their duty post, went to the Kajetia traffic light intersection near the Kumasi Zoo and there they engaged in unauthorized activities.
A police officer who sought to question their bad behaviour was reportedly assaulted.
The Public Relations Officer of the KMA, Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame,, said in a statement that the decision to interdict them followed preliminary investigations conducted by the assembly.
The incident happened on Friday, April 20, according to the statement.
The three would appear before a disciplinary committee to answer for their alleged improper conduct and added that the assembly would ensure that its workers go about their duties professionally, it stated.
The statement warned the staff that KMA would never condone acts of misconduct or indiscipline on their part and advised the public to be bold and report any wrongdoing by its officials to the authorities.
