Torrential rains render 50 families homeless at Asamankese


About 50 residents of Yaw Tano Asanse, a farming community in the Asamankese Municipality in the Eastern region have been rendered homeless after heavy torrential rains ravaged the town on Saturday.


According to reports, many homes have been submerged by the floods making live unbearable for residents.

Some the affected people who spoke to Adom News said they have lost properties worth thousands of cedis.

They appealed to government to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, National Disaster Management Organization [NADMO] has not been able to reach most of the displaced residents due to the nature of the situation.

Municipal NADMO coordinator, Emmanuel Kwasi Adu in an interview with Adom News said they are working assiduously to reach all the affected people.

He indicated that an emergency action needs to be taken to prevent any casualties.

?The affected residents are devastated becuase such a thing has not happened before? he stated.

Emmanuel Kwasi Adu noted that they are liaising with opinion leaders in the community to ensure the relief items reach the right people.
