TUCT working to meet requirements of National Accreditation Board

The Technical University College of Tamale (TUCT) is working hard to meet requirements of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) and its mentoring institutions to introduce new programmes to contribute to the development of the country.

Naa Professor Arkitect Abubakr Al-Hassan, Principal of TUCT, who announced this during the college’s fourth congregation at Dungu, near Tamale, said TUCT had received certificates from NAB to commence Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Diploma in General Nursing programmes.

A total of 30 students graduated with Bachelors’ degrees in Religious Studies, and Human Settlement Planning whiles the ceremony was also used to matriculate new students to pursue various programmes at the TUCT.

TUCT, established in 2001, is mentored by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KUNST) and the University for Development Studies (UDS).

Naa Professor Al-Hassan said other programmes proposed by the TUCT which were currently being processed by NAB as well as KNUST and UDS included BSc Computer Science, BSc Construction Technology and Management, and BSc Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics.

He advised the graduates to let honesty and hard work, be their daily endeavours to ensure success in life.

Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, whose speech was read on his behalf, said KNUST would continue to do quality control to ensure that programmes run by TUCT met the required standards.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, Northern Regional Minister, who was represented by the District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, lauded the private sector for partnering with government to provide quality education for all.

Alhaji Mohammed Haroun, Northern Regional Director of Education, said government was working to improve education infrastructure in the region including the establishment of two new Colleges of Education at Gambaga and Yendi to improve access to education.
