Tunisian colleges offer scholarship to Palestinian students

The Tunisian government announced Tuesday a series of measures to support Palestinian students in Tunisian colleges through a difficult time for their country.

“Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Moncef Boukthir decided to grant Palestinian students who are registered in the various public establishments of higher education in our country, for the 2023-2024 academic year, accommodation in hostels and university cities,” said a statement by his ministry.

The ministry also decided to extend university scholarships to students enrolled in professional master’s programs, said the statement, adding that Tunisian universities are directed to monitor and provide the necessary psychological support for Palestinian students.

The ministry reiterated its call for people from the educational sector to donate for the brotherly Palestinian people, including students, in coordination with the Tunisian Red Crescent.

Israel have launched massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after a surprising Hamas attack on Israeli military targets and towns on Oct. 7. Since then, the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict has killed nearly 5,800 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and more than 1,400 people in Israel.
