A KUMASI Circuit Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo Yartey has sentenced two armed robbers to 25 years imprisonment each, for robbery and breaking into the bedroom of a female banker at Ampabame near Kumasi.
The knife-wielding goons were Eric Boampong, 23, alias Eto?o, an electrician and Akologo Atuley, 34, alias Akokor, head porter, who were said to be residents of Bantama.
The court convicted the two after they pleaded guilty to two charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery contrary to sections 23 and 149 of Act 29/60.
ASP Archibald Kwasi Fandoh, who led the prosecution team said on January 14, 2014 at about 3:15am, the convicts attacked the victim while she was asleep, and succeeded in dispossessing her of Samsung Galaxy S4, and Nokia phones and a cash of GH?20.
Barely three days after a formal complaint was lodged with the Suame Police Command, Boampong and Atuley were arrested for a similar offence.
The victim identified them as those who robbed her in her bedroom during a short identification exercise.
Police investigators retrieved from them the two cellular phones and in their separate caution statements, after they admitted to the offence.
