The accident happened on Tuesday morning around 11am on the highway along Pandamatenga when the two were travelling in a minibus to the resort village of Kasane from another tourist attraction area Maun, an officer commanding Mojaboswa Mathitha told Xinhua in telephone.

There were four German tourists on board whom are two couples, together with a driver who is a Botswana national, said the police, adding that the deceased persons are a male aged 51 years while the other is a 57-year-old woman.

He said those who were seriously injured were flown to Botswana’s southern neighbor, South Africa in search for medical attention.

The police are still investigating the accident and are working hand in glove with the Germany Embassy in Botswana in trying to locate the deceased persons’ next of kin.

The police didn’t reveal the cause of the accident while some sources said the driver was trying to overtake a vehicle in the front when he lost control and hit it resulting in the minibus overturning thrice.

The officer also urged motorists to exercise extra caution when driving in the wildlife infested area of northwest Botswana. Enditem
